If life requires that you need to reschedule, it can be very difficult for an individual maid to accommodate, because they are the only person who cleans other people’s houses, and usually their time is committed elsewhere .

Usually they do not have worker’s compensation, nor insurance, are not bonded, nor pay payroll taxes!  This puts all the liability on you!  If you pay more than $600/year for domestic help, you are responsible for paying the payroll taxes if they are not paying them.

In the rare instance they do provide all of these for you, it is a lot of cost for an individual and they usually charge very similar to a large franchise.

They are usually paid the same amount for each cleaning, which encourages them to rush because they make the same amount regardless of how much time they spend. This encourages cutting corners.
